Installation issues with BISEOne

BI Standard Edition One

Hi,

OK here is the lowdown. I had previously installed BISEOne on my laptop to try out.

As was bound to happen (I should have known!), the software completed trashed my Discoverer and ADI installs, and I could not use either of the other software. So I uninstalled BISEOne, and viola my ADI started working, but my Discoverer would not, and I had to trash and uninstall the Discoverer.

Then I installed BISEOne (or tried to), and I got the message - "BISEOne has already been installed on this machine, please uninstall or install on another machine". NOt the exact words but my remembrance of the nightmare.

Anyway, I tried to install it on a new desktop I had bought at home and it would not install on VISTA - surprising! It is not the issue with the software, but the installer would not run!

Anyway, after that having enough memory on the desktop I created a Virtual Machine with 2GB RAM and 25GB hard disk allocated, on my desktop and tried installing BISEOne in that Virtual Machine (which I had XP as the OS). It went through the install and started creating the DB, one of the last steps in the install cycle. Then it abruptly stopped saying it had run out of Virtual Memory! Not sure what that was all about, anyway I shutdown wht installer and tweaked the settings on the Virtual Machine and tried to continue with the install!

Aha, I have to now start the install from the beginning. I could not find a way to only create the test DB.

If I have to do that it now means I have to trash my existing Virtual Machine and create a new one to start another install.

I have two questions:

Who designs these install scripts to be so unending and not having any restart options.

Why do Oracle products - mainly on the desktop - not work together??

Help!!!!
